Beautiful!
ReplyDeletetemae,
ReplyDeleteYes it was. Don't the boys look good in hakama?
Margie
Wonderful pictures! Thank you very much for posting them :)

Thank you for sharing these photos! I rarely get the chance to see men (other than Daisosho) doing temae.
ReplyDeleteJenni,
ReplyDeleteDon't Sean and Connor look good? I am so glad that they decided to wear kimono and hakama.
Katie,
Thank you for the comment. I always like to see men doing temae, too. Just seeing men in hakama gets my heart going!
Take care,
Margie
What a great slideshow! Thank you for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteAs katie says, it's so nice to have a chance to see men performing tea. At my tea group's last tea demonstration, a member of the audience asked if men ever take part in Chadou (!). In fact, four of my fellow students are male, but none of them happened to be participating in that demo, so the question was understandable.
And... aren't hakama great? I admit to having a touch of hakama envy!
chamekke,
ReplyDeleteI always get that question at demonstrations. Until about a hundred years ago it was just men who could study chado. It was one of the cultural pursuits along with flower arranging and poetry that the samurai did to pursue balance with the warrior arts and to create beauty in life.
Thank you for your comments.
Take care,
Margie
